Hello friends,

The Captive Thermal Power Plant can  now generate 1200 MW (10X120MW). Although the aluminium smelter's entire electric power needs are met by the captive thermal power plant, it also supplies the alumina refinery with about 35 MW of power via the State Grid. The strategic position of the Angul captive thermal power station is particularly important for the supply and availability of coal from the neighbouring Talcher Coalfields. The Talcher coalfields are connected to the captive thermal power plant via an 18.5 km captive railway system, which facilitates the bulk and essential coal transportation needed.

Founded on January 7, 1981, National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) is a Schedule "A" Navratna CPSE with its registered office located in Bhubaneswar.  It is among the nation's largest integrated complexes of bauxite, alumina, aluminium, and power. The Indian government currently owns 51.28% of the paid-up equity capital. The Company has been running its aluminium smelter and captive power plant at Angul, as well as its captive Panchpatmali Bauxite Mines for the pit head alumina refinery at Damanjodi, in the District of Koraput in Odisha.  In an effort to become carbon neutral, NALCO has erected 198 MW of wind power plants throughout India and 850 kWp of rooftop solar power plants on its property. Since 1987, when the first commercial operation began,
